The Red Chair

DO YOU HAVE A HUNGER FOR INWARDNESS?

"Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it." Hebrews 4:1

We all need a "time out" now and then to refocus. Don't you think? I have a precious friend who I often suggest when life overwhelms her to take 5 minutes and head to her "red chair." Process while you are there. Think out your situation. Sulk if you must. Stamp your feet if you are frustrated. Then, once "self" is in control - stop and listen - Do you hear God whispering, "My child, my child ... pass it off to me. You just rest and move forward - I'll take care of everything." Let yourself melt into the arms of God.

It is so hard to wait for God even when we know His timing is best. Don't you just hate having to wait? Head to your red chair. Pause - take five. Wait for the direction of God's presence.
Habakkuk 2:3 says, "Though it tarry, wait for it."
WAITING - a difficult discipline to conquer, however find a way to do it - even if it means 5 minutes in the red chair giving all to God is worth every minute of your time. Submit your will to the Lord.

The person who can wait God's time, knowing that He edits their prayer in wisdom and affection, will always discover that He never comes to one's aid one minute too soon or too late.

Head to the red chair - hide there and be still. Be quiet in spirit - and wait. Just wait. We need to be quiet in order to get the ear of God. Be patient and trustful. Do you know the voice of your Shepherd?

The Lord doesn't lead us into the paths He has for us to travel till we have heard His voice, and allowed Him to mold and fashion us into vessels fit for His purpose and plan - this takes lots of waiting. We will, undoubtedly feel very uneasy and may even plunge into great doubt - however, there is a way out of these difficulties and it is fully surrendering to the Lord.

Lord, I am yours; I do yield myself up entirely to you, and I believe that you accept me. I leave myself with you. Work in me all the good pleasure of your will, and I will only lie still in your hands and trust you. -Hannah Whitall Smith

Time's up! You can now leave your red chair.
