GOD HAS ALREADY PROVIDED FOR YOUR TOMORROWS - SO, HAVE A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP!
"I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone O LORD, make me dwell in safety" (Psalm 4:8)Do you ever have trouble falling asleep? Do the pressures of your job, family, or finances push a restful night's sleep out of reach? David faced great pressure and yet found a peaceful night of sleep in God's arms. Absalom and his forces were in hot pursuit of David, hoping to kill him. In fact, they had camped all around the cave David and his friends were in.
From within the cave, David calls on the LORD to hear his pleas and have mercy - just as the Lord had done before. David is not fearful of his enemy, even though it is his son, because he realizes God has anointed him and that he is set apart from ungodliness and separated unto God. David totally chooses to trust God and writes songs of praise to the LORD. David puts his joy in God - not in goods.
When we want nothing but a relationship with God, we can be at peace regardless of all the stress going on around us. We always have the ONE necessary to keep us safe, so feel free to lie down and sleep. David had God - so do we. Nothing can touch us without His permission. We are promised the peace that passes all understanding - perfect peace!
We need to be more like David, and seek out the LORD for His help. When the pressures of life overwhelm us. We know we can always count on the Lord. Joy will flood our hearts when we are conscious of the Lord's favor.
If we leave our problems with God, he will shoulder them. And he will enable us to sleep in peace. Do you believe you have been set aside for God? You can be assured you have been. You are in the family of God. You are saved - sanctified.
When life comes screaming at us it makes us afraid of that which we need not fear. God has promised protection but we take our eyes off of that and tend to only see the enemy - we lay awake all night worrying and becoming worn down by the horror of our own thoughts, which have now become huge in our heads. Our hearts are oftentimes given over to this kind of unjustified fear. And of couse, Satan is clapping because he thinks he has won the battle. However, that's not so. Is your heart right with God when these fears come? Do you drop to your knees and pour the fear out to God? Does He remind you, that you are safe in His arms? You know, when the heart is not right, everything looks threatening and anxieties grip you. You are afraid, fearful of anything, everything, troubled all the time by a foreboding sense of impending disaster.
We have been given wonderful news and it must be remembered - GOD IS THERE FOR US - ALL THE TIME! The burden can be laid down and you can go to sleep and rest in peace even if the enemy is outside the cave.
"Let us therefore, make every effort to enter that rest" (Hebrews 4:11).
God has a wonderful plan for your life. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. A clear conscience - a right relationship with the Savior - makes for sweet slumber. No pillow is so soft as God's promises, no blanket so warm as His presence.
