Thinking Out Loud Series #2
"All things work together for good to those who love God - to those who have been called according to his purpose" Romans 8:28.
Please, tell me why-life moves forward as it does! Oh the pain, the heartache, the unnecessary uneasiness and apprehension that takes control of every emotion within us when life goes "looney tunes" for us-is staggering to try and explain. Explain we try. Do we succeed? No, not usually. And then, life silently moves on.
We struggle in its approaching path. Many times, it hits us like a ton of bricks. It has no mercy-it has no favorites. It drives us to our knees, or at least it should. We can't humanly bear up under the load-there is an answer, but do we want it? At times, YES-at other times, we do not even want to consider it. We plunge forward entirely on our own thinking that somehow in a human way we can make things different. It is usually a temporary fix-permanence comes from God. He is the one who takes each piece of the puzzle and uniquely fits them into place-PERFECT! It locks in place-it stays put-it works!
The plight of despair is considered. We reason with it, we play games with it in our mind, we actually, at times, think seriously about it-DESPAIR-we cry out-God actually takes time to hear us, things change, and life moves on. Despair disappears for the moment-this time around Once the "blob" (the weight of the world) has moved beyond us, we tell ourselves how awful and dumb it was to even consider despair. There is ALWAYS an answer-there is ALWAYS a way out-things ALWAYS change within a 24-hour period. A new, fresh start begins each morning. After all, the Bible says in Psalms that, "Joy comes in the morning." Everything is new and fresh in the morning-we have another chance to do it right. Will we allow ourselves to turn in the direction we know we should go? Do we trust God in the dark for the things we can't see or understand in the light? He is the Potter-we are only the clay. "There is a way that seems right unto man, but the end thereof is the way of death." We cannot reasonably be the ones in control. Humanly speaking-we are LIMITED-like it or not. We cannot make our brain's intelligence increase-it is a gift from above when that happens.
Put it all in perspective. Stop trying to reason with it. You cannot change what you do not know. Its outcome is already seen in the hands of God. Give it to Him. Allow life to work for you under the grace and fortitude of Almighty God on your behalf. Stop trying so hard! Do you think yourself SMART? Forget it! Your life and everything that happens is in HIS hands. He already sees the conclusion-to the problem, the situation, the heartache, and most of all to your life. Submission is in order. Granting God permission to be in control of your human being should now be considered. Yield your entire being to His control. Whatever the struggle is, things will go better once He is at the helm of your life. So why do we fight so hard?
Life works when God is in control. That is not a trite saying-it is a profound truthful saying. Read the book of Job carefully and see that man's reasoning gets us nowhere. Put God in the equation and watch what happens. We can't make a new day. We can't make the sun shine. We can't make the earth spin in space and at the same time hold it all together. Put it in perspective! Something bigger than you or I is in control. Almighty God! He is the ONE. He is the ultimate and only answer to whatever has blocked your path. He is the one that just keeps making life move forward.
So tell me, why are you struggling under the weight of the world? GIVE IT UP! Gain the victory. Run the course-finish the race-and WIN! Allow life to move any way it wants to - forward, backward, sideways, or in confusing patterns-it doesn't matter. God is in control of YOU! Believe me, one day you will come to know that. So stop the defeat-stop asking questions, "Why?" Get on with your life-life will keep moving whether you keep up with it or not. You are here, and then you will be gone-just as quickly-and life will keep silently moving along as it always has. The Bible reminds us that, "His thoughts are higher than our thoughts-His ways are higher than our ways." We can't make heads or tails of it. We are NOT the ones in control. Why can't we get that in our heads?
We want to halt the process, stop the press, rewrite the script, but it "isn't" going to happen. The story has already been written. The players are already in place. The conclusions will happen the way they have always been planned to happen. Is this fatalism? Of course not! It is just a reminder that God is in control of everything and we are the parts and pieces of His bigger picture. Can we alter the formula or change the equation? Probably not-but we can find the Lord while here on earth, give our human being (heart) over to His control-knowing and understanding we are a sinner and in need of a Savior-and watch a plan take place that will hold eternal value for us and all who are touched by us along our path in life. Then when the bell rings and the curtain closes-our destiny will be out in front of us. And if we are headed in the right direction-and we have kept the faith-WE WILL NEVER LOOK BACK! The angels will whisk us off to our eternal home. "I have fought the tight, I have kept the faith, I have finished the course" - heaven awaits me. Welcome home is all we will yearn to hear. Well done thou good and faithful servant.
Why? Tell me Why-tell me why what? It no longer matters. "All things work together for good to those who love God-to those who have been called according to His purpose" (Romas 8:28). And the beat goes on ... life just keeps right on moving forward...
Amen!
