Eagles Do Not Catch Flies

We need to become "Eagle Saints." After all, eagles are not concerned about trivail matters. Let us not stoop from our position - high soaring gives wide seeing!
Exodus 19:4 says, "You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself."

Take time to consider why eagles do not catch flies. God wants us to soar - He has big things for us to do.

Those who wait upon the Lord shall obtain a marvelous addition to their resources: they shall obtain wings~ They become endowed with power to rise above things. Like the eagle, they have no time to just catch flies! Wings are required for breadth of view. We must soar like the eagle in order to see things aright. The wing-life is characterized by a sense of proportion. We must see life as a whole - this is a bird's eye view. Wing-power gives us the gift of soaring and we see how things are related one to another.

It takes courage to let go of our security blankets and fly away from the nest. We must stretch and spread our hearts toward God in an attitude of never-ceasing prayer and praise, looking to Christ, the author and finisher of our faith. It is easy to grow weary but soar with ease we must. Do not relax your vigilance. Yes, we will flap and flop as we mature, but stay with it. Master the art of continued soaring. If you become exhausted, you may be flying on your own strength. Be ready to rest and renew your stregth for a new day.

We want to fee and take flight. Quick, we say, back to the nest. However, the nest is no longer there. Become still and silent - listen and wait on the Lord. Wait quietly for the crisis to pass. When we stand quietly, our serenity of strength comes from knowing Christ. We can overcome!

"God spreads broad wings; And by His lifting, holy grace, We find a wider, fairer place, The freedom of untrammeled space; Where clearer vision shows us things the nest-view never brings."
- Dr. Jowett

God always has something better for us than staying comfortably in the nest.
